Reform or Repatriation? EBD Exklusiv: What does the UK election and Cameron’s agenda mean for the EU?

Brexit2Reform or Repatriation? It is unclear whether the intention of “Prince Charming“ (FAZ) is to reform the EU as a whole or simply cut an agreement that will reshape the UK’s Treaty obligations in order to repatriate powers back to Westminster. Either way, the consequences of an EU referendum can be of an existential nature for both the UK and the EU.

“EBD Exklusiv” tries a subsumption with Petros Fassoulas, political scientist, EU-specialist and designated Secretary General of the European Movement International. “Cameron’s agenda is one of the great unknowns in European politics at the moment. Is it a threat to the EU’s integrity? Or an opportunity for renewal? Either way, finding some kind of accommodation for the UK constitutes a real challenge for European leaders and the EU as a whole. It’s potential ramifications shouldn’t be taken lightly“, warns Fassoulas. As a dauntless proeuropean at the head of the European Movement UK, the Greek citizen residing in London, has become a celebrity on the eurosceptical island. His interview partner at “EBD Exklusiv” is Joachim Bleicker, representative for fundamental issues on the EU external relations and relations to the EU member at the Federal Foreign Office.

Please note that the debate will be held in English under the Chatham House Rule. The event is followed by a press interview with Petros Fassoulas.
