The Crucial Challenge of the Mediterranean
The Mediterranean has once again become a central site for addressing the current international system’s most pressing challenges. These include forging an urgently needed European policy on migration, taking an international comprehensive approach to ownership and inclusiveness, and forming strategies for effectively countering terrorism – to name but a few of the core principles that need to be established in the Maghreb and the Middle East after the Arab Spring.
The foreign minister of the Republic of Italy, H.E. Paolo Gentiloni, is a prominent institutional representative to address the multiple aspects of the crisis in the Mediterranean. Among other things, he will address the consequences of the current situation for the establishment of a Common European Foreign and Security Policy as well as for upholding the European values of solidarity and responsibility.
Following the presentation, H.E. Paolo Gentiloni will be available to answer questions from the audience.
A buffet reception will take place before the event (12:00–12:30pm).
Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
