EMI INVITATION | Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the European Union’s Response: What’s Next? | Wednesday, 13 July 2022 (14:00-15:15 CET)

Join us for an event entitled „Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the European Union’s Response: What’s Next?“ which will take place online on Wednesday, 13th July 2022 from 14:00 to 15:15 CET. The European Movement International, together with the European Movement Lithuania, are bringing together a panel of policy-makers, diplomats and experts to discuss Russia’s invasion, the EU’s response and the way forward.

Russia’s unjustified invasion of Ukraine has fundamentally altered the security landscape in Europe. The EU has responded with determination and solidarity, showing its support through sanctions and the provision of financial and military assistance. But as the war drags on, the EU needs to reconsider its strategic response. Added to that, Ukraine has lodged an application to become a member of the European Union, sparking a debate inside the EU about the merits of enlargement. What’s next?

The panel will feature:

• H.E. Matti Maasikas, EU Ambassador, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine

• H.E. Arnoldas Pranckevičius, Permanent Representative of Lithuania to the EU

• Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, Chair of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU, Member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine;

Closing remarks by Gaja Šavelė, Chair of the Board of the European Movement Lithuania. Moderated by Petros Fassoulas, Secretary General of the European Movement International. The event is free to attend, but advanced registration via the link below is requested.
