Hertie School | Europe and the World: Global Insecurity and Power Shifts

The Dahrendorf Forum cordially invites you to the Global Policy Launch Event Europe and the World: Global Insecurity and Power Shifts

“A continent that may be ill prepared for globalisation”: Ralf Dahrendorf’s depiction of Europe in 1997 could not be more timely than it is today. The project that once brought peace and prosperity to nations devastated by decades of war and enmity is under great pressure from forces both within and without: The rising tide of populism, societal change and global economic and political transformations all call for a united response.
This special issue of Global Policy – aptly titled “Europe and the World: Global Insecurity and Power Shifts” – addresses the challenges facing the European project. At this launch event, four contributors are asked to provide their perspective on the topic and to share their thoughts on what lies ahead. This also links to the new Dahrendorf project cycle focusing on the strategic challenges posed by recent changes in the political landscape of Europe.
